An iPad at the door
The student holds the card up to the iPad. The camera reads the QR code on the back, and the screen says hello by name. The parent's phone buzzes a second later.

The tutor's phone takes the register
The tutor opens the session in the Pathshala app and holds each card to the top of the phone. The NFC chip is read in a tap, and the register fills in as they go.
- Every tap is timed. A card tapped after the start is marked late.
- Anyone not tapped is marked absent when the register closes.
- The parent of an absent student is told straight away.

Before you call.
What devices do we need?
An iPad at each door, or any iPhone or Android phone with NFC. iPads read the QR code on the card with the camera. Phones read the NFC chip with a tap. Tutors use their own phone in class.
What if a student forgets their card?
The desk or the tutor finds the student in the app and marks them present by hand.
What happens when a card is lost?
Switch it off in Pathshala and the old card stops working at once. Print a new one for $4.99. The attendance history stays with the student, not the card.
Do parents need to download anything?
No. Messages go to WhatsApp, SMS, or email, from your institute's name.
Can a student walk into a session they are not booked for?
The card is checked against the timetable. If the student is not booked, the screen says so and the desk sees an entry refused alert.
