Pathshala means “school.”
For generations, across millions of homes, a pathshala was where learning happened — a teacher, a handful of students, and the simple belief that education changes a life. We took that name on purpose. Pathshala is our attempt to bring everything a school is — the teaching, the relationships, the discipline, the record-keeping, the trust between a teacher and a parent — into one place, built for how education actually works today.
For readers outside India: “pathshala” is the word for school — a place of learning.
The problem we kept seeing
Teaching has never been harder to run. A tutor with thirty students juggles WhatsApp groups, spreadsheets, a payments app, a video tool, and a paper attendance register — none of it talking to each other. A growing institute hires people just to chase fees and answer the same parent questions every evening. The teaching is the part educators love. The operation is the part that burns them out.
We didn't think that was fair. The people doing the highest-leverage work in any society were running it on tools never built for them.
Why I built Pathshala

I spent fourteen years at the IMF and the World Bank Group, working on how institutions and economies get built. It taught me one thing above all: the systems people rely on quietly decide what they're able to achieve. Give someone the right infrastructure and they can do things they never thought possible. Leave them stitching tools together and they spend their energy just staying afloat.

I didn't set out to build “another LMS.” I set out to build the infrastructure an education business genuinely needs — teaching, scheduling, fees, compliance, communication, and now AI — as one system, running under the educator's own brand. Their logo on their students' screens, not ours. Because the institute is the one who earned that trust.
